Many people learn about calcium chloride in class during school. Compared with other chemical products, it can be known by many of us. Calcium chloride is divided into dihydrate calcium chloride and anhydrous calcium chloride according to the crystal water content. The shape of calcium chloride have powder, flake and granular. According to the grade, it is divided into industrial grade calcium chloride and food grade calcium chloride.
Calcium chloride dihydrate is a white flake or gray chemical. The most common application of calcium chloride dihydrate in the market is as a de-icing agent. Calcium chloride dihydrate is dried and dehydrated at 200-300℃ to produce anhydrous calcium chloride, which is white, hard pieces or granules at room temperature. It is commonly used in brine used in refrigeration equipment, road deicing agents and desiccants.
The Application of Industrial Grade Calcium Chloride:
1. Calcium chloride is used for snow and ice melting on roads, highways, parking lots, and docks.
2. Calcium chloride has a strong water absorption function. Because it is neutral, it can be used to dry common gases, such as nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide and other gases.
3. Calcium chloride is used as an additive in calcined cement, which can reduce the calcination temperature of cement clinker by about 40 degrees and improve the production capacity of the kiln.
4. Calcium chloride aqueous solution is an important refrigerant for refrigerators and ice making.
5. It is used as a dehydrating agent in the production of alcohols, esters, ethers and acrylic resins.
6. It is used as a defogging agent in ports, a dust collector on roads, and a fire retardant for cotton fabrics.
7. It is used as lubricant additive.
8. It is the raw material for producing calcium salt.
9. It is used to remove SO42- in the production of chloride, caustic soda and inorganic fertilizer.
10. In oil field drilling, mud layers at different depths can be stabilized.
11. Adding calcium chloride to marine aquarium water increases the amount of bioavailable calcium in the water, and aquarium-raised mollusks and coelenterates use it to form their calcium carbonate shells.
The Application of Food Grade Calcium Chloride:
1. It is used as a preservative for fruits such as apples and bananas.
2. It is used for the improvement of wheat flour complex protein and calcium fortifier in food.
3. As a curing agent, it can be used in canned vegetables.
4. Added as an electrolyte to sports drinks or some soft drinks including bottled water.
5. It is used for beer brewing.
