NaNO3 colorless hexagonal crystal. Density 2.257. Melting point 308 ℃. Heated to 380 ℃, decomposed into sodium nitrite and oxygen. is an oxidant. Soluble in water and glycerol, insoluble in ethanol. Deliquescence in moist air.
