Aluminum sulfate is an important inorganic compound. Solid aluminum sulfate is white, gray green or light yellow flake or block solid, liquid aluminum sulfate is light green or light yellow liquid. Soluble in water, acid and base, insoluble in alcohol. The aqueous solution is acidic and produces aluminum hydroxide after hydrolysis. The product here is the powder of the aluminum. Aluminum sulfate is stored in the air for a long time and easy to aggregate together, dehydration temperature is 86.5℃, can dissolve in water, acid and alkali, insoluble in alcohol, aqueous solution is acidic, with acid and astringent taste. Heating to 530°C begins to decompose, 860°C decomposition ends, the final product of decomposition is r-Al2O3, high purity aluminum sulfate in the hydrolysis process, the first intermediate product of basic salt, and then the generation of aluminum hydroxide.
Aluminum sulfate is mainly used in drinking water, industrial sewage earning, paper industry pulp sizing, oil industry clarifying agent, oil industry deodorizing and decolorizing agent, leather tanning, pigment manufacturing, refractory ingredients stripping, foam extinguishing agent and so on.
