Akzo Nobel Optimises and Restructures Its plants
After less than four months, global coatings giant AkzoNobel has once again announced the optimisation and restructuring of its plants.
AkzoNobel announced on January 10 that it will invest 22 million euros in the Montataire plant in France to build a flagship plant for the production of decorative paints, and plans to reduce 211 employees and create 29 new jobs.
AkzoNobel said the move is aimed at rationalising, modernising and optimising AkzoNobel's operations to ensure long-term success, while maintaining its strong position in France. AkzoNobel currently employs 1,300 people in France.
The proposed plan focuses on streamlining the business and also plans to reorganise its commercial and support functions and distribution network, including the transfer of some shops to independent partners and the closure of a number of shops. The plan will be implemented gradually from May 2025 to the end of 2026.
Earlier in late May, AkzoNobel announced the closure of its production sites in Groot-Amersfoort (Netherlands), Cork (Ireland) and Lusaka (Zambia), and the transfer of production to other plants in the region.
