Introduction
Fertilizer grade ammonium sulfate is one of many types of ammonium sulfate! The molecular formula is (NH4) 2SO4, the molecular weight is 132.14, and the nitrogen content is 21%.
Ammonium sulfate is a white orthorhombic crystal, easily soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol and chlorine. Ammonium sulfate containing impurities is light or dark brown, and when mixed with alkaline substances, it releases ammonia gas, which is humid. The ammonium sulfate is corrosive to steel and water. The decomposition temperature of ammonium sulfate is 280 °C, and the released ammonia gas becomes acid ammonium sulfate NH4HSO4. The change of temperature has little effect on the solubility of ammonium sulfate in water, and its relative hygroscopicity is small.
