Polyformaldehyde is a kind of polymer, molecular formula is (CH2O)n, white amorphous powder, formaldehyde smell, linear polymer of formaldehyde. There is no fixed melting point, heating will decompose. Melting point 120 ~ 170℃. Easily soluble in hot water and release formaldehyde, slowly soluble in cold water, soluble in caustic soda and alkali metal carbonate solution, insoluble in alcohol, its high polymer insoluble in water. Formaldehyde-like reactions can occur, such as chloromethylation, forming acetals with alcohols and so on.
