P-toluenesulfonic acid (molecular structure :p-CH3C6H4SO3H, also written TsOH, English P-Toluenesulfonic acid) referred to as PTS, is a non-oxidizing Chemicalbook organic strong acid, white needle or powder crystals, soluble in water, alcohol, and other polar solvents. Easy deliquescence, easy to dehydrate wood and cotton fabric and carbonize, difficult to dissolve in benzene and toluene; P-cresol is formed in alkali melting.
1. Used as a chemical reagent, also used in dyes, organic synthesis.
