Sodium NitrIte Formula NaNO2 25 KG/BAG White Powder
Sodium nitrite (NaNO₂) is an inorganic salt formed by the combination of nitrite ions and sodium ions. Sodium nitrite is easily deliquescent and soluble in water and liquid ammonia. Its aqueous solution is alkaline with a pH of about 9. It is slightly soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, and methanol. Sodium nitrite has a salty taste and is also used to make fake table salt. Sodium nitrite reacts with oxygen to form sodium nitrate when exposed to air. If heated to above 320°C, it decomposes to form oxygen, nitrogen oxides, and sodium oxide. It is easy to burn and explode when in contact with organic matter.

1. Used as common analytical reagent, oxidant and diazotizing reagent, and also used in the synthesis of nitrite and nitroso compounds.
2. Used as mordant, bleaching agent, metal heat treatment agent, electroplating corrosion inhibitor, and used as instrument disinfectant, preservative, etc. in medicine.
3. Used in the production of ice dyes, sulfur dyes, direct dyes, acid dyes, disperse dyes, basic dyes, dyeing aids, and H pore-forming agents. It is also used to produce intermediates such as aminoazobenzene and para-aminophenol. It is also used in the production of organic pigments, such as silver beads R, bright red, red powder, candle red, toluidine purple red, scarlet lake, litho red, purple sauce lake CK, etc. It is used to produce vanillin. It is used as bleaching for silk and linen. Mordant for fabric dyeing. It is also used for metal heat treatment and electroplating corrosion inhibitor. It is used in cutting oil, lubricating oil, antifreeze, and hydraulic system.
4. It is used as one of the terminators for the copolymerization of butadiene and styrene emulsion. It is also used as a mordant for fabric dyeing, a bleaching agent for silk and linen, a metal heat treatment agent, and an electroplating corrosion inhibitor.
Sodium nitrite is an industrial salt. Although it is very similar to table salt sodium chloride, it is not edible. Sodium nitrite is widely used in pickling meat. If cyanosis of methemoglobin occurs, methylene blue can be used to reduce methemoglobin. The reason why sodium nitrite can cause poisoning is that the iron contained in hemoglobin in the human body is ferrous iron, which can combine with oxygen and transport oxygen to various parts of the body through blood circulation. When sodium nitrite is ingested by mistake, a chemical reaction occurs in the blood, causing hemoglobin to be converted into trivalent iron hemoglobin. Trivalent iron hemoglobin cannot carry oxygen, thus causing hypoxia poisoning in the human body. In addition, sodium nitrite can also generate carcinogens in the human body. Newly pickled kimchi also contains sodium nitrite (so kimchi is best eaten 15 days after pickling, and the nitrite content in it will gradually decrease).
